Dermal Rejuvenation

The Philosophy behind SWiCH™

For over 40 years chemical peeling has been practiced by physicians to rejuvenate sun damaged skin. Both intrinsic and extrinsic aging changes have been the object of many types of skin peeling including chemical, mechanical, and thermal modalities. The common thread tying these methods together is the ability of the skin to heal itself when damaged. All these methods produce some degree of tissue destruction, which incites the natural repair process within the skin. Consistent damage to the epidermis, however, may lead to more serious side effects. In a dermal system that is already overtaxed, the use of these agents creates a greater demand on energy production.

With the SWiCH™ System, it is now possible to achieve repair of the skin without having to induce tissue damage. The body’s repair systems, including that in the skin, are held in a ready state at all times. Understanding what is needed to trigger the system is the key to the efficacy of the SWiCH™ System.

Any repair system requires a large input of energy. Biologically this is in the form of adenosine triphosphate, or ATP. This energy source is generated by a natural cycle as part of the metabolism of food. For the SWiCH™ system to be effective the active ingredients must penetrate into the skin. Next, the repair mechanism must be switched on and the energy supplied – just as you flip a light switch to supply electrical energy to a bulb.

How it Works

SWiCH treatment is designed to work with our skin’s biochemistry, especially the skin’s repair mechanisms. In our body we have many repair systems, such as molecular, cellular and some even work on the level of our skin tissue which is better known as wound healing. All three of these systems need energy, on a cellular level this is known as ATP. Did you know that the SWiCH contains Pyruvic Acid and Succinic Acid? Pyruvate is found in the Kreb Cycle and is vital when it comes to regenerating new cells and the maintenance of our skin. Pyruvic Acid creates ATP in the mitochondria of the cell that is going to accelerate wound healing and protect against oxidative stress. When we combine with the Succinic Acid, it is going to promote formation of new collagen and cells. Each treatment is followed up with a raspberry enzyme treatment providing a gentle exfoliation and LED light therapy to boost collagen production.

What to Expect

This treatment requires a commitment of at least 6 months. Each month a treatment is done to help the body generate its own cellular energy to create luminous and firmer skin. You do need to be ready to make the commitment to achieve maximum cumulative results. For new clients coming in for a consultation you may be asked to return in 2 weeks to receive a quick enzyme treatment to enhance the results and have a light exfoliation.

During the treatment, the SWiCH solution is applied, and you will feel an immediate heat appear. It’s not stinging or burning but the heat you feel is actually the energy being produced in the mitochondria. The heat you will feel lasts only about 30 seconds and isn’t all that uncomfortable. The energy is used to create a beautiful glow with firmer skin and even skin tone.

At the end of the treatment, you will be given a post peel kit and instructions for home care and asked to schedule your follow up Raspberry Enzyme treatment.  There is no downtime with this treatment. Little to no peeling will occur but you may experience slight redness after the treatment that will subside in a few hours. Eye makeup and lipstick may be worn immediately, and all other makeup may be applied the next day.
